After years of just not getting around to it, I've finally managed to watch both of them.

Movie 17 is pretty slow going and investigation heavy, a bit too much with the tears & Conan interferring in official investigations. I think the only bit I really loved the most was how it was an investigation with 2-3 teams working together at long range to collect intel, and Kogoro's silly flashy business cards are awesome. And I need to do Fanart of them. For great glitziness... Yes, yes!

Movie 18 was AWESOME. And off the back of 17, it really puts its predecessor to shame with intense action scenes right off the bat, and a strong art style to match. And for all the english being spoken, there were surprisingly few comically bad english accents. Loved all the characters involved (ohmigawd Sera. You dork.) (also Conan you dope, you literally have a hover board and more toys than Bond is allowed per movie.) I actually like how close we saw Conan get to being taken out, Sera's injury really driving home the danger. I honestly can't think of any bit I didn't like.

:D

Wicked.

Went to see Wicked on Thursday - was very awesome and one of my pals has seriously got their geek on over it since. XD

As a result today we went to queued for Aberdeen's first ever ComicCon in costume. She cosplayed as Elphaba. XD (And pretty much melted at every child that looked at her in awe.) I got to wear the mouse costume inspired by Alice in Wonderland that I'd worn to her hen night. Curry was a recognizable Dr. Gordon Freeman (got a fanboy checking out his badge an' all.)

And then when it was clear we weren't getting in any time soon (like at least another 2 hours and we'd gotten soaked through by the rain already) we went to get some godly-warm lunch and to watch Mad Max: Fury Road which wasn't anywhere as bad as I thought it would be. (Very pretty too. Those clouds! The sands! Gorgeous.)

Excellent fun day, even though I suspect I'm coming down with the cold. Long live WeekEnds! :)

PS: How's everyone else doing?

Went to watch Cinderella in Cinema today. AND IT WAS AMAZING.
Seriously. Go see that movie. It's so satisfying.

In other news: I've managed to sit through a viewing of RWBY season 1. And mostly got over my insane irrational peeves by forcing myself to focus on shiny/irrelevant detail X in the corner when something irked me. It's not that bad. And Rae, you were right, Pyrrha is awesome, but so are Blake and Jean Arc. ;D

Also: EVIL FIRE ELSA *is shot*

I am pretty sure it was about ten years ago that June first mentioned the tv series to me, and I pretty determinedly put it on my to watch list.

Had a failed attempt or two at borrowing a friend's copy of the series since with little luck...

Watched the movie on the flight back from Singapore.  one word: AWESOME.

The tv series is definitely gaining more weight on the to watch list now!  ;D

(Now when I'll get around to it however... *sigh* Need to try Steins gate still too... and being on holiday means so much to catch up on the stuff we actually watch regularly. Huh.)

On a mega plus note: Good to be back home!  ^__^

Oh my gosh.

I just realized that they now have the story pictures on people's profiles!
At last! My profile gets to look like an art gallery! *Shot*
[/shallow]

Have been watching Legend of Korra book 2: OH MY WORD so much amazing! Am thoroughly enjoying re-watching it with Curry too. ♥ Am also looking forward to re-watching Avatar: The Last Airbender/The legend of Aang as a result. And I learn there are graphical novels too... *fangirls*

Quite a few good films in Cinemas at the moment. Thor 2 was a very enjoyable romp with Asgardians and Dark Elves and Magic~, Ender's Game was fantastic in the way it used CG and just the story. Ugh! So good. Am looking forward to seeing the second Hobbit film and chomping at the bit to see one day (probably in DVD 'cause time? What's that?) Saving Mr Banks, Pacific Rim, and (just a little?) Frozen.

TV Series "Agents of Shield" has been very fun so far too. Am amazed at how much it references the latest Thor movie too, now that it's out. Transmedia win.
And of course...
Doctor Who's 50th? The day of the doctor? Geronimoooo-amazing! :D So much fun. I heart John Hurt's Doctor so much! ♥

In real life I got to find out at work what it must feel like to be Santa's little helper elf... The long sleeves make one want to shimmy everywhere as though ice-skating. Slidey shoe covers & dance floor help! >D

Had the first snow of the season a couple of week's back. It lasted about half a day before leaving a nice & sneaky patch of black ice to wake me up the next morning. No harm done - am just amazed at how invisible it was. Mother Nature must have been proud. :)

Right. Time to dash and get Christmas Cards sorted & start wrapping prezzies!

How is everyone, by the way?

Hah!

Watched Detective Conan Film 14 the other day. Fun, but no big plus really. I wonder if it was made just to troll the Shin-Ran fans by waving Kid in their general direction.

Detective Conan spoilers, if not particularly high-flying, have been rather entertaining this past couple of weeks. Mwahaha.

And... I started a new job today. Huzzah!

EDIT: Is another job as a school technician. Sorry about the confusion. More in comments.

Nothing much to report.

Still looking for work. Only had an interview and a half(second job was already taken) so far, and have a second half-day only shift booked on monday through a recruitment agency. Hoping to put Art Commission Guideline online soon so that I can start advertising it. Still debating where to post it. Thanks again June for helping me work out the kinks. :)

Otherwise have been studying the road code and practicing Hazard Perception in the hopes of sitting the theory test towards learning to drive some time soon. Road Code is fairly straight-forward, but hazard perception is really tricky. Or maybe it's just me who's easy to distract/daydreams.

Got to go to the Cinema these past few weeks and see a few good films:
-Alien, old film, but good stuff. Had seen Aliens shortly before and thought why on earth not when I saw it was showing. A bit of a glitch with the sound: took us a while to realise that space wasn't meant to be shown as quite that silent, and then they got the sound on just in time for the "WOOOSH" noise of the door opening and unveiling the main cast. Cooool! And the Alien really did make me litterally jump in my seat at one point.
-The A-Team. Nice laid-back pure over-the-top Action flick. With some ridiculous stunts. I recommend it.
-Toy Story 3. I... I'd forgotten just how amazing Pixar were. It was awesome!

And on that note, back to my usual LJ quietness.

*New Film: Went to see The Watchmen last saturday. Enjoyed it thoroughly. I found it to be a thoroughly faithful adaptation of the graphic novel it was based on, of which I am fond, so I'd probably need to watch it again if I want to have any critical distance with it. By the time I went to see it, I'd already got used to the idea that the costumes had changed and the plot would be stripped of pirates. Only thing left to irk me was the... Unnecessary showing off of the special effects with exagerated gore, which I found took greatly away from the credibility of the show.

*Short vacation: Went to see my aunt, uncle and cousin down in Edinburgh. Cousin has been suffering from health problems the past few years, so was good to see her looking better. Spent some time going up a hill, reading papers and visiting museums, which was fun and relaxing. The tram-works in Edinburgh are a big joke though. Traffic has suffered from it, and so have the shops, apparently. Oh well.

*New Flat: Have moved in with Curry. Is nice, but is going to need some adjusting to I think. On plus side, I no longer rely on the mouse for internet access, and am using my other laptop (the one that is physically poor but strong re:performance!) so maybe I'll get to keep up to date with peeps more. :D

Also...
*New meme: DETECTIVE CONAN ART MEME. =D

Sigh, christmas shopping today, it was not. Went to see "Golden Compas" at Cinema I did.

This movie has had some awesome mediatic strategy. Grabbing Trailer, a clever internet quizz/meme (damn, still a spider), and hey, it's based off a prized book (titled "Northern Lights", surprisingly).

But it wasn't as good as I'd been expecting. I'm half regretting having read the book before hand.
And here's why... (minor spoilers) )

Oh well, maybe am a bit too severe with it, still felt an urge for cheesecake to make up for it afterwards (and bought the book's sequal, because the book was GREAT, the movie not so much.)
(If my french bank account is in the red, I know why. *sigh*)

*Leaves you with the Northern Lights of old Aberdeen.*

So, guess what I went to see in town in the Cinema today?

Beware! SPOILERS for Spiderman Trois~ )

Over all fun, with lots of great special effects. Don't expect a kick to the jaw of awesomeness though.

Y'avait un bon petit moment que je n'avais fait de post en français tiens...

Et ce n'est que pour dire ce qui suit:
J'♥ Le film "LES VACANCES DE MISTER BEAN"

English: Am not bothering translating since I'm too tired but! I think it's pretty self explanatory, and hey, boiled down it says "Mr Bean's Holiday" is a great movie, go watch it!

ETA: Oh, and the PoTC 3 posters are just hot&tasty. ♥
dagronrat: (Default)
*Stares.* I've got slots for up to 110 LJ Icons, wow. O_o And only have 68 of them in use so far. Whee. /end random.

Anyway, watched "Casino Royale" last night with flatmate.
(BTW: Sorry for not squeeing at you June during the process, but Laptop was just being silly last night. Am running a virus and adware scan now. >_>; Will have to squee at you here! ♥)

Bond spoilers go here )

Oh, and before I forget?
Little KaitoxAoko fandoodle done for Yokotsuno is here.

Fic challenge status )

Also...
AGASA'S HOME IS IMPOSSIBLE. Just had to be said.

I believe I'll spend tomorrow scrounging around for concrete info (such as curtains or no curtains? Where can we see the Kudo house from? What goes where?) and try and do a data thingy tomorrow. -___-;
...
Because ugh, why did I chose his house for main setting~?!

Completely unrelated note:
Went to see Pirates of the Caribbean 2 today. Was fun, if mainly action, action and special effects galore. Also, my sister is now a monkey in my mind.
And I was way too amused at the running from cannibals scene... Mainly because of a certain "fangirls!" icon I've seen around. XcD

Waiting to see the third installment to see whether or not Jack is gonna pull a Pinocchio stunt.

So uhm, let's see.

Got Internet back the Tuesday following last post.
Apparently I'd been slowly destroying the port for the wireless tool, so I've now got to use a usb port instead... (Advantage is, I now know what the stick/button/thingamy by the port wos for.)

I think we've caught a cold snap of weather now. The weather changes from frosty and clear skies to rainy and merely cold frequently... Not that I'll complain, the sunshine was lovely this lunchtime to lay around in in the lounge. But as a result, I've been having a headache building up these past few nights. Problem solved with a bit of lemsip, so I shouldn't have any trouble sleeping tonight.

Went to see Aunty and Uncle yesterday and slept over. Got to watch Scotland beat England at Rugby too. Was fun to see Uncle get all excitated about it! %laugh%
And message for Dad That I shouldn't tell him unless he's sitting down.
Your brother in law has an interest in programs showing Dancers on Iceskates. :cp

After Aunty dropped me off at the flat this lunchtime, I did some spring-cleaning. It's nice not to have a dusty floor no more. And after that I went into town to watch Brokeback Mountain at the Cinemas.
Quite a good film I thought. Well acted, well set-up and all. Even if I'm not too happy about smoking/swearing/alcohol/violence in general, I'm glad there wasn't too much of that. I haven't read the original piece, but I'm also glad it didn't seem to be one of those movies that cram in a lot of fairly unrelated scenes together to fit in time (Harry Potter - Narnia... so on.) It was also nice to see how "boring" cow-boying could seem.

Right, now before I get the ginger beer out and think about going to sleep...
GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR CFUD APP JEVA~~~~ !

%am watching Charade and felt the need to share%

I keep stopping the DVD every 10 to 15 minutes because the characters are so entertaining XcD

Joshua turned Alex turned Adam is such a lying yet convincing sweet man so far~

And Reggie (I have trouble with that woman's name) has an eating compulsion whenever she gets upset, and tends to skip from one topic to the next! 9.9

Very entertaining ^________^

I do wonder who's got the money, but...
I think I know XcD
(If my theory holds true, than Charles really did love her. :so sweet:)

Am off to watch the end and find out!

%Charade: Reggie Lambert is about to divorce her husband when she finds that he has been murdered after converting every penny they owned to cash, which is also missing. [...] It becomes increasingly important and difficult for Reggie to determine who are the good guys and who are the villains.
Who can she trust?
