" Game on, ElJayers! You can diagnose your friends in Sim Hospital or steal crops from your neighbors in Farm Frenzy. Check out all our new games in the Game Center!"

But I don't wanna! :p
Now if you had any interesting, non-facebook clone, Fantasy-D&D style game...

Argh. Why is LJ turning into Facebook. Why.

I'm so glad I stopped playing restaurant city on Facebook. It started as a cute little game and then they try to force to you have a lot of online friends who you could use to hire, and you have to do boring things repetitively to keep your restaurant so that, when you level up, you don't go broke because the customers expect a bigger restaurant etc...

I think having games (like in Gaia) is actually great as long as they are really games and not just money-making machines.

But online, those are turning into one and the same thing. Besides, they have to recoup the cost of making the game.

There's recouping the cost and there's using them as a tool to force all your friends to visit a page with a dozen different ads loaded. I bet most of the cost of them these days is designing them to involve as many of your contacts as possible. *sigh* Sure, there are some nice ones, (I quite like Word Challenge myself,) but so many are just mindless exercises in promotion with a few pretty graphics, it's mind-numbing.

I know, I wanted to headdesk hard when I saw that notice a few minutes ago. orz
I already avoid Facebook like the pest partly because there were way too many people spamming me with Farmville, why should I ever wish to see it here as well? How much time until we get a "like" button next now? D:
I'd be SO with you with a D&D style game though!

Yeay! Someone to play it with! :D

The way things are going? I'd give it a year.

On Facebook, thank goodness, they've set up something that filters out all the Farmville posts, you just need to hover over one of the posts, click on the x that appears and say "block all farmville" or whatever game it is.

That said, the fact that they had to put a notice like that out makes me think the games aren't that popular on LJ. Hopefully that means they'll end up going away or staying in a hidden corner somewhere shortly...
