Dagnabbit, science is hard.
I found a book purporting that Man evolved through a more or less aquatic phase, and got all excited about it (it's a really attractive hypothesis) and then I go and look it up on the net and have a look at some of the arguments against it, and it turns out that as attractive as it is, the Hypothesis is JPW(Just Plain Wrong) aka full of HOLES & errors. *headesk*
Oh well. Back to the research board. XD
Oh and

Oh, and I forgot, Meme! taken from SN & Claude:

Date: 2007-05-19 02:26 am (UTC)1. Eisuke and Ran are sooooooooo made for one another. Eisuke is like an adult Conan and someone she can help and protect. She wouldn't feel left behind as with Shinichi. He'd make her laugh. She'd make him feel appreciated. Of course there's the whole "using you to get info" side of things that could make things angsty too, but hey... It's RAN & EISUKE. They could always blame it on his curse anyway. XD
Also the fanservice doesn't hurt anyone. X3
(Like a Gun is the only fic I have with eisuke as an active player so far, darn. ^^; )
2. Soooo before Gosho decided to pull out his cards and show us his hand regarding Eisuke, I'd decided Eisuke was much cleverer than he looked. I also decided he knew of the org' and of Kir. Turns out he was merely sharp and convinced Rena Mizunashi knew where his sister was (since she couldn't be her, oh no!) Still, I'm gonna have to elaborate on him in LAG as I -saw- him, since otherwise the plot is kinda down the drain. In this version Eisuke knows all about Shinichi, though it took him a while to get the Conan part, and he knows about his involvement with the BO. :x
He's a good guy, but isn't very nice/honest about it. I think I actually wrote that his clumsiness was all an act. ><;
3. In another fic of mine I plan to have him and Shiho become lovers, parents and more... After Shiho goes through a whole ordeal about Shinichi who's married Ran. Premise wasn't mine, but I still have great plans for this. Is in french and I NEED TO WRITE IT. ><;
This is also why I really really REALLY want Haibara and Eisuke to meet face to face in Canon. I personally theorize that since the two have a lot in common, they'd get along (my Sleepover fic project brings this into play too.)

Date: 2007-05-19 02:47 am (UTC)1. My Ai is no where near as twisted as yours! XD In other words, she hasn't had to kill people by her own hand, though she probably does feel some guilt over creating the poison. She has, however, been put in a situation where she could have been expected to kill at least a child, but since she is a scientist, she is only armed and taught in the cause of self defence (& self elimination for the good of the org) and she only had to watch Gin do the dirty job. 8D *Yes, I know. Morbid.* Also she and Gin most probably have a dubious consent relationship. ( Red Snowflake & The Sleepover[WIP] )
... Omg, does that mean I've made Shiho -less- of a killer than Akemi? O_o *hides!*
2. I don't think Ai even considers not wanting to get her own body back. To be honest, not wanting to get her own body back would seem unhealthy for her from my pov. Sure, it's the perfect way to hide from her former employers, but if the org was taken down? I doubt she'd even consider giving up on the antidote. As your own icon nicely points out, as long as the person she sees in the mirror is a stranger, she won't truly be herself. (Darkness and most my post DC fics. LAG will probably play with this too.)
3. You and I both share and love the idea that Shiho tried the temporary 24h antidote while Conan was in hospital. I merely have yet to do something with it. ♥
4. I don't consider that Shiho draws that much a parallel in between Akemi and Ran. She considers them both to be brave and innocent people who do their best to cheer others up and not worry them, sure, but I'm certain Ran has many differences.
That said, recent canon events might change my mind regarding the amount of differences. X3
Shiho'll still consider Ran as someone apart, someone she can relate to yet someone who surprises her just as much.
(Mostly Fallen Angels, but also LAG and some of my other fics.)

Date: 2007-05-19 04:33 am (UTC)There isn't so many autho who likes to explore her guilt for her crimes anyway, most of the times, Ai fan deals with her fear of the orgu or her sadness for the loss of her sis, or her difficulties to trust/become intimate with others...
2)Well, the thing is that I picture Ai with strong identity problem more than you, so maybe it's why I've no problem to picture her finishing to see Haibara like her true self?
And since the person she looks in her mirror was already a stranger for her before Akemi's death for me...
But well, it's a matter of personnal interpretation.I said it, both options could be IC for me.
4)There is so much way to picture the relationship between those two.^___^
Shameless Akai/Ran shipper?XD

Date: 2007-05-19 04:45 am (UTC)2. ... Well I do remember making a point in Darkness about how she associates the name "Sherry" with subservience to the org, "Haibara" with fear of death and loss, and "Miyano" with her sister. I think it's kind of unfair that Akemi dies in the attempt to free her sister from the org, only for her to take on an identity that wasn't hers to start with. Ai is not a child at heart, far from it. But then again, I know you are a tragedy lover, and in their attempt to escape the org both sisters "dying" as in losing her identity for Shiho? Very very tragic. Even Akemi didn't die under her own name!
... AKAI/Ran shipper? X3 Now you've got me curious~~~~♥!
no subject
Date: 2007-05-19 04:54 am (UTC)2)I've never seen the two sisters dying in trying to escaping the orgu stuff, but I fall in love with it, if you see this idea in one of my fics in the future...^__^
Well, Akemi would know that she had succeded to free her sister and that Shiho would always see her as her great sister, so I don't think there is trully something unfair for Akemi in Shiho remaining Ai(and now you gives me a plunnies with Ai and a ghost Akemi, curses you!Xp)
3)Well, in the last spoilers of the manga, it's the only thing that I've found which could made you love the parallele Akemi/Ran more so...
And, well, the pairing could be interessing and bittersweet, I would think of it(and Ran should finish with someone in my end of the orgu fic anyway so..XD)

Date: 2007-05-19 03:30 pm (UTC)In case you hadn't noticed, Integra's the character in most of rae's icons. ^_-
Ah Jodie, I don't use her often in fics, do I?
1. Whenever I do use Jodie, it's often as a liaison between Conan/Shinichi and the FBI. When she does 'appear' it's usually with Akai. If there's a favour to ask, it'll be from Jodie I think, even if she has very square ideas about stuff, she's also more friendly and influenceable. A bit like Takagi me thinks.
2. She and Ai have the potential to become really good friends I think. (Maybe I should toy with that in LAG?) Can you imagine them giving each other fashion tips over coffee? XD
3. She'll totally hate Vermouth's guts for ever and ever. Even when proved that Vermouth is just a maverick and not evil. But the two in a room without any guns and there totally would be hair pulling. >_>

Date: 2007-05-19 03:47 pm (UTC)Ah, Heiji. I love him but I find him so hard to write for... >_>
1. Heiji had to pass his motorbike licence twice. First time he was just too tired or distracted by some case. Second time he saved his examiner's sorry neck in some case by using his motor bike skills. This was the night before he had to pass his test. Really late that night. Had the examiner not given him his licence on the spot, he would have again been too exhausted to sit it. Kazuha gave him hell about it. ^__^
(fic-Tout est-il permis?)
2. Heiji is Stubborn with a capital S. That's how he can guess what's on his hat when both Kaito & Shinichi give up in "l'énigme des casquettes" 8D That and he really hates losing.
3. Do not read my fic "une tasse de thé amer". It was an attempt to write HeijixShiho and ShinichixKazuha but the plot's really bulky and the characters could be any OC you want. I need to figure out a way for me to write alternate pairings without using the big evil angst truck. Mostly because Heiji is clueless and stubborn.
4. I have a crack plunny demanding that Heiji storm the BO HQ like a sword happy mad man. 8D
5. In Oiseau de Justice, Heiji and Heizo butt heads over how far a police officer is allowed to go in the hopes of apprehending a suspect. Heiji is a cop because that's what his dad was and, as smart as he is, he just doesn't feel cut out for the private eye business. Heizo is also facing troubles because people want a bribable man in his position.

Date: 2007-05-20 08:10 am (UTC)Ah, Heiji. I love him but I find him so hard to write for... >_>
Thank you, that's kind of a relief to know I'm not the only one to think that way.;>_> As much as I'm trying to, I have always the impression that he's the most ooc one if every single fic I'm writing. *sigh*
*grins at #1 and 2*
*coughs at #3* Uuhhh, yes, evil truck angst...;>__> I know what you mean. And mostly can't
livewrite without it either.^^; But on the other hand, I like angsty fics... *sigh*For Heiji being clueless and stubborn... Yes... and no. I agree that he can be pretty stubborn, yes!>_< But I don't think he's always that clueless, except for Kazuha... Or was that what you were meaning? Clueless with his own feelings?
#4 %D
...and now I'm getting curious for this plunny. *gg*
#5
Oh, so I'm not the only one who is totally convinced he will rather become a cop than a private eye? And I really like that idea about the bribable cops in high positions. I have been carrying a plunny for about two months with me about a cold war between the Hattori family and a powerful Yakuza clan in Ôsaka where I have also been thinking about that... So several more fics on my to-read!-list! I want my holidays noooow!;__;
Btw, where do you store your fics? On ff.net or do you have them in your livejournal too?

Date: 2007-05-21 12:24 am (UTC)humm... I might need to take another glance at my old fics and jog the auld memory a bit.
1. In one of my fics, Hakuba is like the Hawk that hunts down the Snake that is Snake. Wah. I'd forgotten that image. *Flails at the art plunny.* He's a very proud and loyal opponent. I think he'd take a shot at taking down whoever tried to cheat Kaito by going against the rules, though he usually trusts Kaito not to let himself caught by anyone but him.
2. If Hakuba knew the french expression "Poisson d'Avril"(meaning April Fools & April fish) and of Kaito's aversion to fish, he so would paste a paper fishy "Poisson d'avril" on the poor magician's back. X3
3. My sequel to my french fic NDE, Terreur de Minuit, which you can find snippets to on my lj under the "french lesson" tag is probably gonna have Ran/Hakuba in it. Icka's fault. Totally. I was chatting with her while trying to figure out how Ran and Hakuba should interact, and she told me what her comedic impulse would be. It plunnied.
And now Claude's probably gonna kill me for spoiling some of the plot.4. I've got a french fic based on the Shuffle Romance play. Is an AU that features magic and ties into the DC verse. Hakuba is in it as the son of a Hawk merchant, under the maybe not so appropriate name "Diamond" since he has Gold eyes. His mom's name is Gold. XD His bird's name is "Watts", and they sell the bird "Lock" to "Spade". X3
5. I have a fic in writing where... *looks dodgily to the right and left* Hakuba Saguru is in fact Miyano Shiho's twin brother. I blame mc1t's ficswaps for that one. And also Elena Miyano for feeding the dang plunny. I won't elaborate further.
6. Kaito has a tendency to steal Hakuba's british papers... and see if he can prank him somehow with their contents. ♥ Can result in interesting heists, me thinks.
(And sorry for the laaaaaate answer XD;; )

And I dunno. I guess it depends how important Shiho's family identity is to her... which is, of course, open to interpretation. I think it is a common fanon that she worked on the project her parents' worked on.

Date: 2007-05-21 01:12 am (UTC)Heh, it's hard to do justice to a character half inspired by Ellery Queen, especially if one has no talent for comedy and energetic, hot tempered characters. Especially since from what little I know of Ellery, he doesn't seem that hot blooded, and yet I can see Heiji in him! Ah, Heiji. Such a paradox for background.
3. Nothing wrong with angst, per se, but evil angst truck has a tendency to....... flatten the characters. At least in my own writing experience I find. ._.;
And yes, I meant clueless about his feelings.
4. It's for the continuation of this fairly cracky non serious fic (http://dagronrat.livejournal.com/41787.html). What's posted is the transcript I wrote around 2 years ago. Am not sure how well it's aged, or actually written.
5. *______* oh hurray! *glomps you* For me it seems every serious private eye needs to be prim and conscious of his clientèle (if only to make a living). For Heiji who likes to act on his own so much, I think this could be rather a constraint.
... That said, that pretty much describes V.I.Warshawsky who is very much a P.I. >_>;
But I still think being a cop offers Heiji more freedom and resources. Even if it does mean getting into trouble with his superiors on a regular basis. (And drat, now Heiji is complaining that he wants to answer to no one. Hush Hattori. You know you want to make your father & wife proud, dangit.) >_<;
*siiiiiiiigh* Alas Oiseau de Justice is one of my fics I don't feel like continuing since I'm afraid my OC has turned into a
bad gary stuprat. If ever I do pick it up again, it will demand a lot of rewriting. T_T*huggles*
And yeah, I store my fics mostly on ff.net, though sometimes I pre-publish them on Beika Street (http://www.conan-fansub.net/Beika_street/) and also publish them on DC Fanfics (http://dcfanfics.free.fr/?p=227) when I don't forget.
Some fics are only posted on my LJ (here (http://dagronrat.livejournal.com/41787.html) and here (http://dagronrat.livejournal.com/46573.html)) for reasons I hope are self explanatory, though there are probably some (http://dagronrat.livejournal.com/tag/fanfiction) that are just waiting for me to post them to FF.net.
If I ever do write NC-17 content, they'll probably only be posted on my LJ(under lock), in relevant fic communities and on DC Fanfics (http://dcfanfics.free.fr/?cat=50).

Date: 2007-05-21 01:28 am (UTC)That list of series I watch is in the comments of your recent post(s)! Shame on you! :pGlad you like the piccy btw! *huggles*
..................... And oh drat, I thought you had said Shinichi. *Headesks.* I definitely need to write more on Shuichi. Just because of that, am including my fan-comic (http://community.livejournal.com/manycases1truth/204653.html) that features him.
1. Akai and Gin hate each other with a passion because a)Gin doesn't like fishing which Akai loves, b)they were good friends who fell out, c)they work for opposing organisations and have diverging views on justice and where to put a fishing rod. 8D [The friendship of Red and Silver.]
2. Akai tops Gin, because the argument that he looks like a girl will always pawn. ["]
3. In LAG Akai is really glad that Gin was not amongst the dead bodies. Akai likes a challenge dangit.
And with recent spoilers in mind, I guess he's just as revenge prone as Jodie, though he's less "emotional" about it.... Now that I come to think of it, calling Gin "Koibito" seems like a bit of self directed sadism. Sure, it makes fun of Gin's long hair and is used with the meaning "enemy", but it's also a painful reminder of his girlfriend's death.
4. I definitely need to write more about him, especially with recent events that render the argument that there isn't enough info on him nil. (And also bolster the idea that he and Conan are a dang dangerous duo!)
... Just like Jodie. T_T The rare times I do use him, it's merely to indicate that I haven't forgotten the FBI. Dang.

Date: 2007-05-21 08:00 am (UTC)I've only read one Ellery Queen that far *sigh*, but I can't remember having been strucked that much by the similarities to Heiji... I obviously have to read many more of them, but somehow there don't seem to be that many french translations, and when I went to that British/American bookshop in Paris, the bookseller was too clueless and incompetent to be able to order some english versions for me.>__<
3. Ah, do you think it flattens them...?oo *looks guiltily at her own fanfics* I don't know, I liked angst because I felt like extreme situations could let me explore their behavior in situations they never experienced before and therefor "widen" their character.^^; But then I have always been addicted to angst, not only in my own fics.;>__>
4. *grins* I will see if I come to read it next time.^__^
5. Then we seem to have the same idea about Heiji being a cop, but a totally different approach to that result.^^ In my fanon, I like to point out Heiji's very traditional family issues. I always imagined him in a family of samurai descendants who were traditionally in the police forces (I still have to do some research on modern samurai families though...>__>), and though he's kind of a rebel, the Ôsakan cops are somehow a part of his family and family bonds are very important to him, just like friendship, so he probably doesn't even consider anything else than to suceed to his father's position one day.
In my head, he's also that kind of absolutely unbribable person, he solves mysteries as a passion and possibly just because he wants to help others, not because he's being paid for that (like that case in the Tottori prefecture where he brings back the money he was given to accept the job... or was it another case?>_< *has to reread the complete manga collection in her summer holidays for serious*). That's why I can better imagine him being a cop instead of a private eye who has to be paid for a service which is just natural for him. But that point seems to be pretty close to yours.^___^
And I totally agree with you that he'll probably have some serious trouble with his superiors. *grins* Especially his father!Ah, that's too bad... .__.
Thanks for the info.^__^

Date: 2007-05-24 08:20 am (UTC)And I agree, it is really sad that we don't know Heiji's thoughts as much as we'd like to, but on the other hand... I kinda like it, it gives me more space for personal interpretations.:)
