For [livejournal.com profile] firstsilvera as a thank you for posting fic-bits in german to help me practice it. :c) (I might try to leave a 'review' in german on them too some time soon, to actually unrust my german-writing skills as well. ^^; )
And also to return the favour.

Is probably a bit long (around 500 words) and complicated for a first bit, but the plunny demanded I do around half of this as a horror show, and I wanted to at least post some that wasn't. Hope you don't mind.

Also, this "plunny" has decided it's going to be in the continuity of my "monster" Fic In Progress "Nuit d'Etoiles" so not only it works in a similar way (alternating normal scenes with those in the style of a novel or show) but "Terreur de Minuit" also refers to some of the events in it's predecessor (before I even write them, agh.)
So anyways, if some things seem a bit strange, such as Ran being interested in Hakuba on the news, that's why. Hopefully these oddities will be more or less explained later on in the fic-bits I write for this story.

Just as an extra note, "Nuit d'Etoiles" (Starry Nights) is centred around a Kaito Kid heist that happens shortly after Conan accidently acquires the ability to read thoughts. It is punctuated by extracts of a "Night Baron" novel by Yusaku Kudo.

==========
Bonne Lecture~!

Terreur de Minuit.
TREMBLEZ!
-
"Tremble, mon enfant, tremble!"

Midnight Terror.
F
EAR ME!
-
"Fear me, child, fear me!" Cried the disembodied voice, as the young woman ran with all her might in the other direction.
The sinister croak of a crow came to punctuate the fleeing girl's terrified cries, as the cracked voice continued to laugh at her.
A cloud then came to hide the full moon, making the pale glow that had still been shining on the graveyard disappear.
Momentarily blinded, the hunted person did not see the branch that scratched her face while it caught onto her long black hair, nor did she see the tree root underfoot that made her trip.
"No!" she yelled, before crashing full length to the ground. Biting her lip, she tried to rise again while holding back a sob.
But it was already too late...
Behind her, the black shade of a man had materialized.
She shivered seeing the silver colour his hair still had despite the lack of light. His eyes shone like two blue pricks of ice, and as for his hands...
"You are mine, now..." The apparition stretched out towards her a shining bright hand, that seemed to glow from inside... Glow with a blood red colour.
Unable to stand any more, his future victim shut her eyes in a moment of weakness, to recall the face of a young bespectacled man.
"Help me!!!"
-
"Kyaaaa!"
"Oh no Ran, no way do you change the channel! We were just at the best moment!"
Rising from the sofa to attempt, without success, to recuperate the channel changer from her best friend's hands, Sonoko was split in between annoyance facing this unwelcome interruption of her favourite series and mad giggles in front of the terror she could read in the young Ran Mouri's face.
"How can you expect me to watch such a thing, Sonoko?! The ghost was going to kill her!"
"Oh, if only! What do you think heroes are for, eh?" A little more, and she should be able to catch the raised arm of the scaredy-cat. No way was she going to miss the end this time!
The Television, discarded by the two teenagers in their wrestle for control, was showing turn in turn varied channel after channel of the Suzuki's satellite subscription.
Suddenly, distracted by one of the rare passing announcements to have caught her attention, the long black-haired young girl released her hold on the channel changing button to see what it was about.
"But it's about Hakuba!"
"Huh?!"
Only blinking for a short instant, the brunette with a head-band quickly got a hold of herself, and with a victorious swipe she grabbed the much coveted channel changer, to the great horror of the more distracted girl.
"Oh, but wait, Sonoko!"
However Ran had not needed to say that, since at the sight of the screen, Sonoko lost all desire to return to her show.
"But... That picture?!"

-

To be continued...

Hopefully helpful vocabulary:
- Trembler: Literally means to Tremble. But since in this context it means with fear, I translated it as "Fear me". The french verb "Craindre" (to fear) isn't as classy for vilains as a nicely put "Tremblez!"
- Outre-tombe: literrally "out of the grave". Disembodied. My friendly english-french dictionary translates "une voix d'outre-tombe" as "in a lugubrious voice."
- courir à perdre haleine: literrally "to run so as to lose your breath." Used to describe the act of running desperately/with all haste.
- rauque: hoarse, husky.
- s'étaler par terre: to fall flat on one's face. "étaler" on it's own means to spread. Par Terre is on the ground. S' is "se" and means self. Enjoy the mental picture~!
- ombre: shadow or shade.
- On en était... Similar to "Man ist/war..." in german, unless I'm mistaken. "On" is probably the closest the french have to a neutral "it", although they tend to use it instead of "we" at times. "On en était" vaguely means "We were at..."
- "dans les traits de Ran Mouri..." I translated it as face, but "trait" is literrally a line. Here it meant the lines of her face, her expression.
- froussarde: comes from "avoir la frousse" to be scared (stiff). A synonym to "la frousse" is "la trouille". Neither are very polite ways of saying "peur". Froussarde = Chicken, scaredy-cat.

:D now it's even easier for FS to remember the birthdays... (It's always nice when two friends have the same birthday.)

FS can't forget her own birthday either. Very nice symmetry. I should have come a few weeks later, in January.

But it seems that FS absolutely wanted to see the world on the 21st December. :)
