[This morning, I awoke from a dream...]

I was with a pirate crew. Not any pirate crew, but one with astounding members: a lass who could control the weather, a sharpshooter with a taste for telling tales, a young woman who could sprout extra arms wherever she pleased, a cook with a sturdy kick, a singing skeleton, a man with three swords, a talking reindeer, a cyborg, and the whole lot were commandeered by a captain whose distinctive feature was his ability to stretch his arms from the front to the back of his ship. These people were fighters, but that day, they were not fighting. They were attempting to escape from a devastating sea battle between marine forces and other pirates, by sailing their ship along the coast, behind the gathered battle ships.

At some point, some of us must have abandoned the ship to go on land for a bit, for we were in a row boat when we stopped not far from the stone quay, having spotted a rather distinctive fish out of water. It was a fish, we could tell from its body and head. Its head had a nasal extension though, reminiscent of the sword fish, and in place of its tail was a similar appendage. The blades were twirling rapidly, tracing a large circle, so that it looked like the fish were connecting two sideways helicopters, and still somehow flying straight a foot or so above the water.

The fish seemed to be striving to get on land, so we clambered onto the quay and went to assist it. As one of the pirates helped pull it onto the quay, the tail-appendage started morphing into the shape of legs, and soon the rest of the fish was changing shape too. By the end of the transformation, we were faced with a mermaid in full human form. her fish-skin having separated and stretched into a light and clingy dress that was too big for her, scrawny thing that she was. She then addressed us with a deep sense of urgency, despite her exhaustion, and asked if we could go rescue her partner and their son. She indicated where to find them, somewhere underwater, still the shallow parts, and we accepted this task, despite our own urgency to flee the battle waters. Why? Because somehow she seemed to fit in with my own goal. If we helped her, she would be able to help us in turn.

[What that goal was, however, I do not recall, as it was at this point that I woke up...]

It has been a while since I had a dream that I found bizarre enough that I wanted to note in some form or shape the striking element thereof. I guess I'll add "double-helicopter fish/mermaid" to the list including "OMG High. Slippery. Cliff-above-the-sea-and-deadly-rocks.", "Evangelion fights in magical quicksand", "FIGHTING WATER/CYCLONE DRAGONS", and "Why was [uni-classmate] playing in a play in my secondary school with my secondary school classmates wearing a sequin-covered Knight suit? ... Also, sequin-covered apple?!"

In the vein of creepy dreams, I also had a dream in which... someone I knew had died? And I was the last to know? D: Not a nice one. Brrr...

Anyway, enough about dreams. Time to look at ambitions.

I recently posted[locked] about an application I made for a Scottish training course in Animation. As expected from the "Oh Snap!" moment I had when looking at the form (more specifically, the "show us how well you already animate" part), I have not been selected for an interview. Got a letter today confirming this. I admit that I am not disappointed in the slightest, since I was not looking forward to relocating if I succeeded, and was well aware that I was heavily under-experienced. However I still consider the whole venture in a positive light, and think that as soon as I get some form of employment, I want to learn how to make animations. Properly. Not just mucking around.

In the meantime, have prodded some Temp Agencies in hopes of finding work there, and am poking at the people who can give me money for being a jobless person in search of work. Time for me to find my wings.

In other news: "the mouse"(my internet connector) and my laptop seem to be having a little more trouble getting on then they did at first, so that is the reason why I haven't been on msn at all. I haven't been online much either, but that's a combination of "the mouse" and life/other people.

Also, Claude?
I forgot to do you something for your birthday. Thus, I offer you a chance to prompt me! And I shall do you a purty Fanart. Make your demands! \o/
Meanwhile, HAPPY BIRTHDAY~!

And small plug for my recent Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess fanart on my DA page, because I can. :P

But you already got that one smutty thingy. D: Yes. But don't make a habit of it, please. XP

Also, sanity is overrated. 8D Who defines it, anyway?

Tu as aussi raison: faut pas mettre la charrue avant les boeufs comme on dit.

Quant à "j'ai l'impression de m'exprimer d'une manière de plus en plus maladroite et confuse", bah bienvenue dans mon monde. 8D; La seule suggestion qui me vient en tête c'est de prendre un rythme sain (genre dormir et se lever tôt, un bon régime alimentaire...) et trouver de quoi mettre tes méninges à l'épreuve. ^^;;

Oh, it was just an innocent teasing...but if it's allowed...(smirk)
We would seeee...

"Also, sanity is overrated. 8D Who defines it, anyway?"
Me, and according to myself, the entire world is filled with insane people(hey, they're not thinking like me, and I'm sane so...)

Pour les suggestions, bah je vais voir, j'ai un rythme de sommeil et une alimentation à peu près normal, donc je vais essayer de me concentrer sur la dernière de al liste(que je vais traduire en "lis plus, et remet-toi à tes fics")XD;

Haha, true. :D Your dreams are even wackier than mine. And your memory is amazing, to remember all those pirates. =))

Am sorry to hear about the training course in animation. But you were probably too inexperienced (it's awesome you still tried it, by the way). You will make it the next time with a bit of luck since you will practise a lot. :D

The Zelda fanart looks great. You are get better and better when it comes to digital art. :D

No miraculous memory, am afraid. As Rae aptly spotted, the pirates were the characters from popular manga and anime series "One Piece (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_Piece)". I woke up remembering that it was the crew from that show, not each pirate individually. :)

That said, whacky dreams for the win? XD I need to catch up on your latest! \o/

And thanks. -^^-

Oh, so the dream was influenced by a manga. I was surprised about the pirates because there were so many of them. (Usually, I don't remember many people from my dreams, only the most important ones.)

I dream a lot. But in the past days I have these strange surreal dreams which are not so clear anymore. :)

(How do you paint when you paint digitally? Do you sketch, scan the sketch into the computer and then use the Wacom tablet with some software?)

Surreal = ♥

Well the picture in the post I did a pencil sketch, scanned that in, then, using my graphic tablet alot I...
- Adjusted contrast.
- "Coloured" the lines (aka told program to make all the greys more red, was scanned in greytones.)
- Started filling areas of near-uniform colour (eg: Link's green tunic, his hair, etc...) on a seperate layer.
- Tried different layer effects to see how the colour would be best applied to the sketch. ("Multiply" is a favourite.)
- The sky and ground I sort of did a blanket colour on seperate layers and then added detail. The selection tool was my friend. <3

Oh, so you use Photoshop? :D

Sounds like a lot of work. I find it difficult to work with the Wacom tablet. Hence I always use it to play games. *hides

Paintshop, a sort of Photoshop clone/concurrent. :D

And most things that look good have a lot of work put into them. XD Though to be honest, it could have been much more work than it was.

I hear Wacom makes really good graphic tablets (my own is a cheapy). Though I haven't tried using my tablet to play games other than solitaire. :cO

True... I'm often too lazy to put enough work in a pic, too, especially when it's not original art but fanart.

My Wacom tablet is a cheap one, too. It's good as a mouse-replacement, but not good enough too be useful when it comes to fanart.
