Casino Royale
Mar. 31st, 2007 10:45 am*Stares.* I've got slots for up to 110 LJ Icons, wow. O_o And only have 68 of them in use so far. Whee. /end random.
Anyway, watched "Casino Royale" last night with flatmate.
(BTW: Sorry for not squeeing at you June during the process, but Laptop was just being silly last night. Am running a virus and adware scan now. >_>; Will have to squee at you here! ♥)
As I said in FS's post, I got the DVD for 7£ on the day it came out, which is a good price, especially since there's also a special features DVD with it. I suspect it was a one-day only discount though.
But back to the movie!
Was GOOD and FUN and...
Well, let me try to do this in order.
LOTS of impressive stunts at the start. Scarface dude was like a gazelle/monkey, jumping all over the place. Bond's imitation of the stunts had me wincing for every bruise I could imagine acquired...
And boy does he run a lot! O_o He should run a marathon and win!
Also? M is made of RULE and WIN and AWESOME. ♥
And Bond is a heartless *** who keeps mounting the bodies. But da*g does he do it in style.
The airport stunt? Very very impressive.
And the dead bodies playing poker? Just wow and creepy and huh? Why, what an appropriate place to leave a dead suspect! XcD;
The poor girls though. Somehow my hunch that any girl romantically (be it just for a night) involved with Bond ends up dead wasn't wrong. *sighs*
And Vesper! Vesper! Ah the awesome of Vesper and LeChiffre~!
Vesper Lynd is full of snark and wit and omg!betrayalItCan'tBe!surprise! LeChiffre is such a b*$²@*d, and one in trouble which makes him so... I dunno. Special?
What I really loved though was how Bond was prepared to give up his double O status. How passionate and hurt he was by Vesper's demise. How desperate he seemed to save her (note that she was desperate to save him) and how in the end he felt so betrayed he couldn't feel he could trust anyone any more.
But of course the beautiful final note of the movie? Bond morphing into a smart, suave and deadly double O agent, confronting the master mind behind Vesper's death with a calm and cold
And I haven't even seen any of the other Bond movies!
Thanks for the awesome. ♥
Oh, and before I forget?

Date: 2007-03-31 02:28 pm (UTC)Eva Green ( the actress who played Vesper Lynd) is one of the most beautiful actresses I ever know. Even better, she's beautiful in a high-class, elegant, majestic kind of way. I think I drooled at her as much as I drooled at the infamous swimtrunk scene. Y'know which one I'm taking about, right, Dag? XD that's totally fanservice for us!
M is indeed very awesome. Judi Dench is the only woman who gets to play M in the history of Bond series, and I guess you can see why so. She's one kickass auntie you'd love to have.
Yes, yes. The last line? the epilogue? total genius punch.
I heard that Daniel Craig did as much stunts as he was allowed to do on his own, because otherwise he'd feel like he hasn't done enough. I heard he got a lot of bruises and had to down a lot of painkillers every morning.
the monkey-thing at the start is based on a new kind of sport called Parkour. The Scarface dude is one of its founders.
And ahhhh. Isn't it awesomeeeee.
my favorite line:
Vesper: that snarky, sarcastic smile* I'll keep my eyes on the money and out of your perfectly formed ass
Bond : smirks* You noticed.

Date: 2007-03-31 02:50 pm (UTC)Parkour huh? I think I've heard of it. Bunch of guys running up walls and the like? (Sounds like the French Parcour which means Race-course/trajectory or something like that.)
And da*g, how COULD I forget the infamous gratuitous trunks scene? *_*
Also. I so want an icon with M!Dench on it. Something along the lines of "M is not pleased" or something. ♥♥
Snicker. He so would notice her noticing. It was adorable how they would try and read each other. ♥
