Sounds very much like a Shuichi-Sherry and Amuro-Sera ending to me. I only wonder why Shuichi likes quiet women while both Akemi and Jodie seem rather chatty.

Amuro-Sera could most certainly be interesting. Shuichi-Sherry... less so. Brrr.

Shuu-Sherry can be easily pulled off if Gosho tweaks everything a bit and shows us that he actually approached Akemi just to meet Sherry and that it was only guilt, not love, which he felt for Akemi. He never really said that he loved her, so Gosho can easily turn it into a: "Sorry I used your sister to meet you and then I fell in love with you" romance. It would be dark enough to be interesting.

On the other hand, I don't really like to see the two serious and dark people together. They really need someone to balance them out.

I have been mulling over who I want Haibara / Shiho to end up with. My ideal otp: Haibara / Success, where she comes up with an invention that is so awesome and game-changing (and benefits humanity) that her and Agasa have enough $$ to fund their own mad scientist lab startup as soon as they're done touring the world.

But I digress.

The only issue I have w/ Shuichi / Sherry is that he is her sister's ex????? Baggage. So much baggage. If she would end up with someone I'd rather it's with someone for whom she is the sun and moon and the ultimate. She deserves nothing less than the best.

Hence my reply to Dag that Gosho can still pull it off my saying that Shuu only used Akemi (which led to her death) and that what he feels for her is guilt, not love. That way it would be still a lot of baggage but would have a sort of bitter-sweet dramaesque edge to it. Otherwise it would be just two gloomy people consoling each other over the death of a loved one (which can happen in real life but isn't a satisfying ending for the story).

Their personality types are also so similar that I have trouble seeing it work sob. It's gloom x gloom. Honestly I thought Haibara needed someone who could snap her out of her depressing thoughts and from time to time draw out her sillier side. I'm not saying she has to be with an eternal optimist but a little bit of contrast would be nice.

Yep, same here. Okiya seems a lot lighter than Shuu, though, so that I wonder whether Akai is really that gloomy or whether it was just his guilt over Akemi's death. He is still such a sketchy character that a skilled writer can twist him into someone who matches Ai. I seriously doubt it in the Dc canon, though, so I hope she will stay solo. Even Higo is a better choice. XD

Sometimes I wonder if Shuu would be very different in a not!showdown situation. He already seems a lot more chilled as Okiya - sort of doting big brother vibe that'd probably let Shiho rant/get things off her chest easily... He's cautious enough that she won't get annoyed at him for recklessness but devious enough to trick her into doing things she might not otherwise want to try.

Lol I think Dope is not a good choice for her, at this point.

Basically, my criteria for Haibara's Future S.O. (if she's inclined to take any), goes like this:
1. Is committed to being in a team with her. (That means sharing secrets, valuing her opinions, trusting her abilities, doesn't leave her in the dark, etc)
2. Has enough sense of humour / gooofiness / optimism to pull her off those BO flashbacks / memories / bouts of self-hatred
3. Accepts her good and bad side (including her past) unconditionally.
4. Has a set of strengths and weaknesses that well complement hers.
5. Think the sun and the moon of her. She's no one's consolation prize.

While the Dope ticks the boxes (more or less, with some caveats) on item 2 (sorta), 3 (after a while) and 4 (despite his Stu-ness), he completely fails on 1 and 5, so he's out of my list). But I have to admit that old C/A interactions helped me draft out the criteria above, sob. If this can't be met, I'd rather she stay solo by the end of her series, so fans can imagine her meeting someone special later on.

I don't know if I want to see Ai with someone at the end... If Gosho is perfect at ONE thing, it's to destroy every couple once he had put a CANON tag on them...
(Kaito's parents, Shinichi's one, and eventually AkemixShu... I think it's the only canon one I could still stand..)

I prefer Se/Ran too. She is her type and all, heh. They are so in synch and make a great team whenever the situation calls for it. Sera is Ran's Heiji, basically.
