Hubby is currently blasting very shiny tunes from Rwby in an attempt to get me to watch/like it.

I tried the first couple of episodes and just. No. The art/animation was a huge turn off for me, and as far as I could gather it was just a huge collection of tropes taken too far for me.

We shall see if he manages to convince me otherwise. :\

RWBY is fun to watch as long as you don't try to take it seriously. It's written by a group that does video game humor shows; don't expect much. But the characters and setup are entertaining, and the fight scenes are gorgeous.

Most importantly, the fandom kicks ass. Here's a link to one of the best AUs, there's a fan-made VN in the works, there's a fan-made video game that got picked up and is being overhauled to be official, and of course there's amazing artwork and ficcage.

Have you watched the four trailers? There's a better place to start than the episodes, and some of the later episodes expect you to have watched them (especially Blake's).

How can one show get me so wound up?!

Just watched the four trailers + food fight with hubby and... urk.
The music's lovely but the voice acting bugs me.
The character design illustrations are lovely and animation can be artsy as hell... BUT IT BUGS ME how it looks. And the nods to stuff that are not subtle. And.

Trust me. I don't think I'll ever start producing for Rwby.

But I do want to get over my ridiculously large aversion to it. Because it does have cool things and I can feel curry is frustrated because he thinks I'll love it. And wants to share things about it with me. And ugh.

Edit: also some Chinese, Korean, and German, from what I can see on the first page, though I'm not sure how far any of the projects have gone. Japanese is probably the best bet.

Edit2: The voice actors do get better over time. Cut them some slack...you're probably too used to the very mature seiyuu industry. America has no such thing.
