DC Art/Ficbit: Shin' Frost
Nov. 19th, 2014 08:35 amHe had already seen this movie. He remembered being dragged by both Ran and Sonoko to the cinema to watch it when it came out. He had considered it too kiddy for him back then, but it hadn't stopped him from appreciating it for what it was: an acceptable movie, rather good for the sort aimed at kids. Of course, there wasn't really any mystery to solve or true interest, but it was easy watching.
It was only much later, when under the assumed name of Conan Edogawa, his body shrunk by ten years thanks to a mysterious poison and thus too small to prevent Ran from forcing him to sit and re-watch the film during the Mouri households evening meal, that he learned to enjoy this movie from a whole new angle...
The protagonist, he was just like him. Just like Jack Frost, Shinichi Kudo felt invisible. As with the imaginary guardian, he only had one wish: to shine, be believed in, to exist.
Something must have shown on his face, because suddenly Kogoro Mouri and his daughter stopped teasing him, their usual arguments dissipating into silence, letting their young charge immerse himself fully once more in this movie of discovery and rebirth.
Later on, when he got the chance, he dropped by the convenience store to buy a DVD. "Rise of the Guardians" had re-energised him, and as long as he remained shrunk, this movie was going to be handy to have at hand for the unavoidable nights where sleep would elude him.
