Aaaand back!
Apr. 16th, 2007 11:04 pmLink of the day: http://www.potterpuppetpals.com/index.html for all you Potter fans out there... And the others. ♥
So! I'm back from my weekend of Fun and Sunshine down in Edinburgh!
And by sunshine I mean sunshine. Was apparently hotter than in Spain up here in good old Scotland this spring~ despite the Sea Fog that was killing long distant visibility too! (You know a fog is impressive when you can't see the other bridge or it's end.)
Was fun staying over at Aunty Elizabeth's (note to self, Elizabeth is with a z in English, with a s in French, remember!). Slept like a baby most of the night, got up sort of early-ish.
On the Saturday we went with cousin Jane to see "The art of Natural History in the Age of discovery". Was very interesting, and sad. Poor Martha the lonely Voyager Pigeon. ;_;
Afterwords we had lunch and went to the City Art Centre to see and laugh at some fantastic Chair Designs. Jane and Aunty were most puzzled by some of them. So was I. A table on Bicycle wheels is most impressive.
There were some really good paintings of Scottish interiors in the basement too. Some I'd seen before, others that had me really interested. ( note to self: Hirondelles translates as Swallows, not Sparrows!)
Then we went and saw the PIXAR Studios exhibit!
It was really, REALLY, REALLY good. Even if one of the little kiddies must have done in their pants in the showing room. >_<;; Pfiuu the smell.
Lots of wonderful sketches, paintings and digital paintings. Even some resin models and videos. The two highlights were
-the Toy Story Giant Zoetrope: a 3D "flipbook" with resin figures going round and round till they hit a certain speed and then, with the help of some strobe lighting, the figures appear to come to life~
-the wide screen animated gallery wall, where they'd jump from drawing/painting/collage to drawing/painting/collage and animate them/bring them to life. An awesome 15 minute experience. ♥
Later on we went on a bike ride, we being me and cousin Jane.
Question for the masses: do YOUR bikes have STIRRUPS on them? O_o No really. What kind of made person came up with them and how are you supposed to get your feet in them and balance at the same time? >_>;
Anyways we did a good 5 miles on them, and I only turned red/got on my feet and walked when going up hill towards the end. Was great exercise!
Talked about family history that night. Is interesting to hear about Dad's side of the family and their childhood. Dad doesn't speak about it often. (And I got to see pictures~!)
Sunday we went for a walk on the hills then had lunch. Journey back home was longer than expected. The forth bridge was half closed which caused a traffic jam/bottleneck/half hour queue. Had to wait an extra half hour at Dundee for the change bus. Got home fine but exhausted. On the whole a brilliant Week End though. ♥
... Especially since Monday is a Public Holiday in Aberdeen! *cackles*
Love to all~♥♥♥
Edit: DC fans, you know THIS is why Kogoro thinks he is made of awesome right? ;D

Date: 2007-04-17 09:55 am (UTC)Maybe you can still make it? *Is Shot.*
But yes, it was very very very good
I think there even was an animation student going around drawing from some of the exhibits.They were/are also organizing talks and viewings of things (since the exhibit is celebrating 20 years of Pixar), but alas I didn't get to see any.
I'm just gonna be content I saw some Ratatouille development art. ♥
So cute. *.*
