Remember... Remember the 5th of November?
Apr. 2nd, 2015 08:30 pmSo uhm... What do you guys think of this?

I... really don't know what to think of it.

Date: 2015-04-02 11:57 pm (UTC)On the one hand, I do really miss fannish interactions in a format that isn't Tumblr. Tumblr is very fast-moving and often incoherent, leading to much confusion and broken links.
On the other hand, I would vastly prefer said fannish interaction to be on Dreamwidth to LJ, if only because the default page view on LJ causes migraines for a not insignificant portion of the population.
On the metaphysical third hand, I have a permanent account on LJ. Their offer of paid time means absolutely nothing to me, but it might mean something to someone else, and I can still reap the benefits until such a time as the site fades into oblivion.
On the completely imaginary fourth hand, after everything LJ did to screw fandom over, I kind of want to point and laugh at how desperate they are to get us back.
LJ meant a lot to me once, and I really enjoyed my time here, but I'm not sure I trust enough to go back to it, let alone know if anyone would join me.

Date: 2015-04-03 07:42 am (UTC)It's the poem used to remember the date of Guy Fawkes night (when loads of british people get together for a big bonfire upon which a wooden mannequin is often thrown). The fact that their "remember" page is called that brought it to mind.
I guess that's true, us aicoholics are a stubborn lot. XD
And anyone who's left tends to have left for a reason and, you know, still be available somewhere else.

Date: 2015-04-03 08:00 am (UTC)What's Dreamwidth like these days? I haven't visited it in ages.
It does feel like too little too late. What is there to come back to? I'm still here mostly because people I know still post here and I find it handy for following rss feeds (a feature they've only just made easier to find on their feed page *rolls eyes*)... but I am finding the website very much in decline. LJ-communities aren't working anymore, there's no easy way to find active pages to follow or even visit on a whim, and their esthetic... Ugh. They've managed to make the picture scrapbook even uglier and the ability to massively move pictures from one folder to the other is a decade overdue - since their last big overhaul I still have hundreds of pictures in the wrong folder because I'd tag them with more than one tag.
The crux of the matter will probably be the adverts. If I didn't have a paid account the only way I could visit LJ is with an adblocker... and even then. *sigh* I don't think some evanescent paid time is going to change that.
(Also hey! Nice to see you! Haven't talked to you in ages!)
